RATE UPDATE 10/30/26: Progress. Slowly.
The Fed blinked.
ANALYSIS
No hike this week.
Officially? They need "more information."
My read? Nobody wanted to hike five days before an election.
You can decide for yourself...
Inflation came in hot (again).
3.6%.
Going the wrong direction.
GDP also came in hot at 3.4%.
Beating expectations.
Hot inflation plus hot growth normally equals a hike.
Didn't get one.
Hmmmmm....
Yeah, politics.
Rates continue their slow move downward.
It's not dramatic, but it's better than the other way.
Rates ended the week near one-month lows.
WHAT'S NEXT
Investors are growing more nervous about the AI trade.
That is helping rates.
Latest example:
Anthropic's debt is reportedly at risk of being one-notch below investment grade.
(Anthropic provides Claude)
Below investment grade = more expensive money = a more expensive AI buildout.
Nervous money runs to bonds.
Bonds go up, rates go down.
We shall see if the pressure continues to rise.
Have a great weekend!
